New Romantics - Blitz kids

New Romantics- The Blitz Kids

The new romanticism movement started in the late 70s and  was influenced by punk values. The idea that everyone could be a star was continued but people wanted to dress in a more glamorous way. The New Romantic movement started in a small club in London but went on to influence an entire generation.

Since most people didn't have jobs they would spend all day getting ready to go out. There was no one right way to dress, it was about being different and standing out from everyone else. There was a lot of experimentation in this era. Men dressed in a more feminine way and was often  seen wearing more makeup than women. Men were also often described as more beautiful that the women in the club.

The New Romantics Fashion movement has been excepted more in the present day than in the late 70s when the movement started.
